FAQ

How does CertNode Recover work?

When a subscription payment fails on Stripe, Recover detects it instantly via webhooks. We then execute a multi-step recovery process: smart retries timed to payday cycles (not arbitrary delays), a 6-email dunning sequence that escalates from friendly reminder to final notice, and a hosted card update page where the customer can enter new payment details with one click. If any of these steps result in a successful payment, the subscription continues and you keep the customer.

What does it cost?

$0 per month. We charge a 15% success fee only when we recover a payment. If we do not recover it, you pay nothing. Your first recovery is free so you can see the value before paying anything.

How is this different from Stripe's built-in retries?

Stripe's Smart Retries are good but limited. CertNode Recover adds three capabilities Stripe does not offer: payday-aligned retry timing (retrying on the 1st and 15th when bank accounts are most likely funded), branded dunning email sequences with escalating urgency, and hosted card update pages where customers can enter new payment details without logging into your app. Together, these recover 10-30% more revenue than Stripe alone.

Will my customers see CertNode?

No. Dunning emails are sent with your business name, your logo, and your brand colors. The hosted card update page is also branded with your business. Your customers will never see the CertNode name.

How do I get started?

Sign in to CertNode, go to the Recover dashboard, and click “Connect Stripe Account”. One-click OAuth, and recovery starts automatically. Optionally configure your brand name, logo, and colors for the dunning emails and card update pages.

What payment methods do you recover?

Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover). Failed payments due to insufficient funds, expired cards, or declined transactions are all eligible for recovery.

Can I customize the dunning emails?

Yes. You can set your business name, upload your logo, and choose your brand colors. The email copy is optimized for recovery but sent under your brand identity.

How do I cancel?

Disconnect your Stripe account or disable Recover in your dashboard settings. There are no cancellation fees, no contracts, and no commitments. Active recovery attempts will complete but no new ones will be started.
