FAQ

How does CertNode Recover work?

When a Stripe subscription or invoice payment fails, Recover detects it instantly via webhooks and launches a multi-step recovery process: personalized dunning emails written specifically for the failure reason and customer, payday-aware send timing, and a hosted card-update page where the customer fixes their card (Stripe then recharges natively). Every email is written in your brand voice. We also detect expiring cards 30 days early and send proactive update reminders.

What does it cost?

$0 per month. We charge a 25% success fee only when we recover a payment (20% if you also use CertNode Reflex). $5 minimum fee. If we do not recover it, you pay nothing. If a recovered payment is later disputed, we refund our fee.

How is this different from Stripe's built-in retries?

Stripe's Smart Retries handle the recharge attempts. CertNode Recover adds three capabilities on top: payday-aligned dunning timing (nudging the customer on the 1st and 15th when bank accounts are most likely funded), branded dunning email sequences with escalating urgency, and hosted card-update pages where customers can enter new payment details without logging into your app. Together, these recover meaningfully more revenue than Stripe's retries alone.

Will my customers see CertNode?

No. Dunning emails are sent with your business name, your logo, and your brand colors. The hosted card update page is also branded with your business. Your customers will never see the CertNode name.

How do I get started?

Sign in to CertNode, go to the Recover dashboard, and click “Connect Stripe Account”. One-click OAuth, and recovery starts automatically. Optionally configure your brand name, logo, and colors for the dunning emails and card update pages.

What payment methods do you recover?

Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover). Failed payments due to insufficient funds, expired cards, or declined transactions are all eligible for recovery.

Can I customize the dunning emails?

Yes. You can set your business name, upload your logo, and choose your brand colors. The email copy is optimized for recovery but sent under your brand identity.

How do I cancel?

Disconnect your Stripe account or disable Recover in your dashboard settings. There are no cancellation fees, no contracts, and no commitments. Active recovery attempts will complete but no new ones will be started.
