Catch refund abuse
before you approve it
Sentinel scores every refund request for fraud risk using 5 signals. See the risk score on the charge page, decide with context, and feed the abuse network so every Sentinel merchant gets smarter together.
14 days free. Then $49/month ($39 with Reflex).
The refund abuse pattern
Without Sentinel
- A customer emails asking for a refund. You have no reason to say no.
- You approve it. Later, you find out they refunded the same product at 3 other merchants.
- No shared signal. Each merchant absorbs the loss alone.
- Serial refunders keep moving. You keep writing off the cost.
With Sentinel
- You open the charge. Sentinel shows a 0-100 risk score.
- If the card has refunded 5 times across 3 merchants in 30 days, you see it.
- You approve, request proof, or decline — with context the customer can't hide.
- Every decision feeds the abuse network. Your signal protects every merchant.
5 signals on every refund
Cross-merchant abuse network
Device, IP, card, and email hashes shared across Sentinel merchants. The more merchants join, the stronger the network.
Card refund history
Refund counts on this card across recent merchants. Serial refunders surface immediately.
IP classification
VPN, Tor, and datacenter origins flagged. Residential IPs treated normally.
Authentication data
3DS, AVS, and CVC results at purchase. Pulled from Evidence Vault when installed.
Delivery-to-refund timing
Refunds requested within hours of delivery flagged as high risk. Normal timelines pass through.
Merchant feedback loop
Your approve/block decisions adjust the abuse network weights. The system learns your refund policy.
Simple pricing
One caught refund on a $50 order pays for the month.
How it works
Install
Install Sentinel from the Stripe App Marketplace. No webhooks to configure, no code to ship. Your 14-day trial starts when you enable scoring.
Review
When a customer requests a refund, open the charge in Stripe. Sentinel shows a score and the factors behind it before you click Refund.
Decide
Approve, request proof, or decline. Every decision feeds the abuse network and raises the floor for every other Sentinel merchant.
Honest about the cold start
Sentinel uses 5 signals. Three of them (IP, authentication, timing) work from day one. Two of them (abuse network, card history) get stronger as more merchants join. Early installs see smaller network signal; it compounds. If you want a mature, large-network product today, Signifyd costs 1-3% of revenue and targets enterprise. Sentinel is the SMB-priced alternative — flat monthly, no minimums.
Better together
Vault captures authentication data at purchase. Sentinel uses it to score refunds. Reflex defends the disputes that slip through. Running all three gets you Reflex bundle pricing ($39/month for Sentinel).
