Reflex Documentation

Everything you need to know about automatic dispute defense

Getting Started

Installation

  1. Install CertNode Reflex from the Stripe App Marketplace
  2. Authorize the app to access your Stripe account
  3. Reflex automatically activates protection for all future transactions

What Happens Next

Once installed, Reflex works automatically:

  • Transaction Monitoring: Every payment is tracked with certified timestamps
  • Dispute Detection: When a dispute is filed, Reflex is notified immediately
  • Evidence Generation: AI analyzes the transaction and generates compelling evidence
  • Auto-Submission: Evidence is submitted to Stripe within 60 seconds

How It Works

1. Certified Timestamps

Every transaction is recorded with a certified timestamp using RFC 3161 - the same standard used in legal proceedings. This creates tamper-proof evidence that the transaction occurred exactly when recorded.

2. AI Evidence Generation

When a dispute is filed, AI analyzes the transaction data and generates a compelling narrative tailored to the specific dispute reason. The system considers customer history, delivery proof, and cryptographic evidence.

3. Automatic Submission

Evidence is automatically formatted for Stripe's Disputes API and submitted within 60 seconds of dispute creation. No manual intervention required.

4. Visa CE 3.0 Compliance

Reflex automatically formats evidence to comply with Visa's Compelling Evidence 3.0 requirements, matching transaction data across multiple purchases to prove legitimate cardholder activity.

Settings

Access settings from your Stripe Dashboard: Apps → CertNode Reflex → Settings.

Configurable Settings

  • Contact Email - Where to send dispute alerts (defaults to your Stripe account email)
  • Auto-Submit Evidence - Toggle ON for automatic 60-second submission, or OFF to review evidence before submission
  • Email Notifications - Get notified about new disputes and outcomes

Always-Active Features

The following features are always enabled:

  • Automatic dispute detection - Monitors all disputes in real-time
  • AI evidence generation - Creates compelling narratives for every dispute
  • Certified timestamps - Legally-recognized proof for all transactions
  • Defends all disputes - No threshold, maximum protection

Evidence Generation

What Evidence Is Gathered

  • Transaction data: Amount, date, payment method, customer email
  • Certified timestamp: Legally-recognized proof of transaction timing
  • Customer history: Previous purchases, dispute rate, account age
  • Delivery proof: Digital delivery confirmations (if available)
  • Shipping data: Tracking numbers and delivery confirmation

Evidence Strength

Each evidence package shows the strength of collected evidence:

Strong4+ evidence types collected
Moderate2-3 evidence types collected
Limited1 evidence type collected

Dispute outcomes depend on many factors. Evidence strength indicates what documentation is available, not a prediction of results.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly is evidence submitted?

Evidence is typically submitted within 60 seconds of Stripe notifying us about a new dispute.

Can I review evidence before it's submitted?

Yes! In Settings, toggle "Auto-Submit Evidence" OFF to review evidence before submission. You'll be notified when evidence is ready, and can submit after reviewing. With Auto-Submit ON (default), evidence is submitted within 60 seconds.

What dispute types does Reflex handle?

All Stripe dispute types: fraudulent, product not received, duplicate, subscription canceled, credit not processed, and more.

How is the 15% fee calculated?

When Stripe rules in your favor, we calculate 15% of the recovered amount and invoice you at the end of the billing period. Lost disputes cost you nothing.

What makes certified timestamps special?

Our certified timestamps use RFC 3161, an international standard for timestamping. These timestamps are recognized under Federal Rules of Evidence 902(14) and provide irrefutable proof of when a transaction occurred - the same standard used in legal proceedings.
